Majoni Fender Guide

Majoni Fender Guide

Majoni Fenders Explained

For optimal protection of your yacht's topsides, Majoni recommends a minimum of six fenders. The ideal size and number of fenders will depend on factors such as your yacht's overall length, displacement, and freeboard. However, to fully safeguard both sides of your yacht simultaneously, or to protect the transom when moored stern-to, you may require more than six fenders.

Buoy fenders are particularly useful for guarding against pinch points, providing extra protection for the aft section and the transom area.

When it comes to maintaining your fenders, Majoni advises cleaning them regularly using fresh water, or a combination of soap and fresh water, to keep them in good condition.

Majoni Inflation Guide

Majoni fenders are equipped with a specially designed brass valve that makes inflation, deflation, and reinflation easy and efficient.

To inflate a Majoni fender, the recommended method is to use a compressor with a flat head nozzle that fits against the valve. Alternatively, you can use a bicycle or foot pump, provided you have the correct Majoni brass adaptor. It's important to avoid using a needle-type adaptor, as this can damage the valve.

For optimal performance, Majoni recommends inflating their fenders to a pressure of 0.2 bar. At this pressure, you should be able to press the fender wall in with the flat of your hand. Keep in mind that fender pressure can fluctuate with changes in ambient temperature, so it's important to check and adjust the inflation regularly.

To deflate a Majoni fender, gently insert the tip of a pen or biro into the valve just enough to let the air escape.

If you need to replace a damaged valve, Majoni suggests screwing an M3 threaded bolt or machine screw into the valve, then firmly gripping the bolt head with pliers to pull the valve out. Insert the new valve into the fender wall using the same method, with the bolt, pliers, and hand pressure.
